The Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) will sign an agreement with its labour union on implementation of sixth pay commission on or before April 19, an union leader said.
The KTCL union on Wednesday met the chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, who had assured of signing the agreement draft before April 19.
“Chairman informed us that some technical formalities are left to be completed and once they are done the agreement will be signed before chief minister Digamber Kamat,” union leader Christopher Fonseca told Herald.
He said that though the document will be signed in the middle of April, the salary for the month will be paid
After consistent bickering by the workers’ union, the state government last month has conceded to pay the wages as per sixth pay commission for 1900-odd workers from April 1 onwards.
The implementation of sixth pay will burden the ailing corporation by almost Rs 30 crore as arrears and Rs one crore monthly salary liability, further shrinking its coffers.
The corporation will have to pay 25 per cent of the arrears in advance and rest would be distributed over next ten years.
