PONDA: Khandepar parents and locals have demanded with the authorities to solve the traffic chaos and violations, to avoid accidents at OPA Khandepar Junction, especially during school hours since the situation puts students at risk.
According to locals it is an accident prone zone and given the earlier fatal mishaps at this site, they feel that authorities should take into consideration suggestions made to the authorities.

The locals said the Home Guards, traffic police are honestly performing their duty but during morning hours there is often rush of people including office goers as well students. Beside the National Highway traffic, the incoming and outgoing vehicles joining at the busy junction it becomes very difficult for the police to control the traffic during early hours of the day.
Locals say that vehicle drivers often ignore directions of the traffic police, thus putting the flow of traffic in jeopardy and demanded that violators should be heavily fined.
The locals also demanded to construct an approach road to Khandepar Bridge since the vehicles from the NH use the internal road to come to the OPA junction.
Sandeep Parkar, a local, said, “OPA Khandepar Junction is accident prone zone. Four years have passed since the newly constructed bridge was inaugurated without an approach road. Government should immediately construct the approach road to prevent chaos and accidents at OPA Junction.”
It may be recalled that a loaded truck rammed into a hotel which was however, closed as the owner had gone to see a doctor. The site is usually full of people and students on other normal days.
