MARGAO: Anjali Pandey, the mother of the two children who were abandoned in Margao last month, was reunited with them on Monday, after Margao Police facilitated the reunion. The family, consisting of Anjali and her two children, three-year-old Khushi and two-year-old Ayush, had been staying at Apna Ghar until their reunion.
Following the completion of necessary formalities, Anjali was joyfully reunited with her children. The reunion comes after a series of events that began when Anjali was found at Margao railway station on January 30 by ASI Manoj Mandreker. She was then taken to the Konkan Railway Police station, where she revealed that her two minor children were missing. Fortunately, she was able to identify them from photographs shown to her by the police.
Khushi was found wandering alone at Gandhi Market, Margao, while Ayush was abandoned in the parking lot of the station on January 28. Subsequently, Margao police arrested two individuals allegedly involved in abandoning the children: Niki Pandey, the stepmother of the two children, and her boyfriend, Aniket Rajguru.
An offence has been registered against the accused under Sections 317 read with Section 34 of IPC and Section 8(1) of the Goa Children’s Act. Meanwhile, the children’s father, Manhu Pandey, who works in Maharashtra, is hospitalised at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, due to a serious liver ailment and his statement is yet to be recorded by the police.
Both Aniket and Niki were presented before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Margao, and a four-day remand has been obtained for further investigation into the matter.
