VASCO: A scooterist sustained serious injuries when he was knocked down from his two-wheeler by a speeding car near Verna, on Saturday.

According to the Verna Police, both — the scooterist and Maruti Breeza car were proceeding from Verna to Vasco and the car driver in an attempt to overtake knocked down the two-wheeler and
rider Rajendra Kumar Singh was flung to the other side of the road and sustained severe head injuries in the bargain.
He was immediately rushed to the South Goa District Hospital, Margao and later shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the locals said that the spot is an accident-prone zone and till date five to six mishaps have taken place here.
The Verna Police conducted the panchanama and booked the car driver Vrushank Naik from Matve-Dabolim for rash and negligent driving. In another accident reported at Vasco Police Station, a speeding car rammed into a roadside electricity pole at Gandhinagar, early Saturday morning.
