PONDA: The Electricity Department has not learnt a lesson from the Thursday’s incident involving the death of their three employees as the department’s truck was seeing transporting poles from Curti to Mardol along with the staff, on Friday.
The people expected that the Electricity Department would take proper care but the locals were shocked to see the eight employees transporting poles on a truck from Curti to Mardol, thereby the department continuing to risk their employees’ lives and no lesson learnt from the tragedy.
While transporting the poles, the locals hoped that these employees would be taken in other vehicle for unloading of the poles. However, despite claiming three lives, a similar case of transportation of the electric poles along with the eight staff members from Curti to Mardol was witnessed that surprised the Ponda locals.
Congress Youth President Varad Mardolkar said, “Despite major accident claiming three lives, the government seems to fail to give proper directions to its officials regarding safety of employees and their transportation.”
He said, “Old vehicles are dangerous for transportation and the employees should not be allowed on the truck.”
Meanwhile, when contacted, one official said, “This is the practice that is going on since long time. We have no separate vehicles for the transportation of employees and no directions are received in this regard.”
