MARGAO: The Cuncolim residents along with their MLA Clafacio Dias on Thursday met the TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai and urged him to change the new alignment of National Highway passing through residential areas.
At the meeting, Vijai questioned national highway officials what authority they had to change the alignment of the highway.
“The roads are meant to help the people not to displace them,” Vijai said and suggested to resurvey the work and realign the highway without displacing the people. Vijai also assured the people that he would not approve anything that is against the will of the people.
After a long discussion, it was agreed by the people and the Executive Engineer of Highways Rajkumar Kamat to resurvey route to change the alignment of the highway.
Cuncolim MLA Clafacio said, “The alignment of the road parallel to the Konkan Railway line is the best and the TCP Minister will fulfil our demand.”
