PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s stay is USA has been extended by a few days, and he will now return to Goa on August 21, instead of August 18.
Parrikar, who is undergoing treatment for a pancreatic ailment, had left for USA on August 10 for a health review. He was expected to return on August 18. However, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed that the stay has been extended by another three days on the advice of doctors. “Chief Minister will be arriving on August 21,” CMO said.
In the absence of the Chief Minister, the administrative charge has been handed over to his principal secretary P Krishnamurthy. However, Parrikar is in touch with the office through e-mail and video messages.
The CMO also confirmed that the Urban Development Minister has communicated to their office about his visit to USA for medical treatment.
D’Souza was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, last month, after an infection. After almost a fortnight he was discharged. The Minister did not attend the monsoon session of the State Assembly held in July due to illness.
