2 Nepal nationals arrested
VASCO: Dabolim Police arrested two Nepali nationals while allegedly trying to travel on forged documents. According to Dabolim Police attached to Dabolim airport, Suraj Sammant, immigration officer attached to Dabolim airport, complained that during immigration check on Saturday, documents of the two Nepali nationals, Arun Shrestha (32) and Rakesh Ligal, were found forged. Sammant informed that Shrestha and Ligal were scheduled to travel from Dabolim to Nairobi Kenya via Doha Qatar by Qatar Airways. Police further informed that during immigration check, it was found that the stamp on the visas were erased, which was confirmed after passports were passed through the UV light. Sammant later handed the duo to Dabolim Police, who arrested Shrestha and Ligal under Sections 468, 467, 420 read with 34 IPC. PI Naulesh Desai is investigating the case.
Cobra rescued at Quepem
CURCHOREM: Forest department on Thursday night rescued a Cobra at Condy-Quepem. After the family of Piety Cardozo came to know the presence of about 6 feet cobra in their house, they immediately alerted the Forest department. Rescuer Roque D’Costa attached to the Quepem Range rescued the cobra and handed it over to the Forest Department, Quepem.
10 buses detained at Dhargal, Colvale
TIVIM: RTO on Friday morning detained 10 buses at Dhargal and Colvale. According to sources, the RTO during its drive detained 10 buses and were later fined and released.
Sources further informed that RTO detained about 10 buses at Colvale following complaints from some truck owners that the Mumbai-bound buses are reportedly involved in carrying goods and other parcels.
Bike theft: Calangute local held
PANJIM: The Panjim police achieved breakthrough in a bike theft case with the arrest of a local youth on Friday. The accused has been identified as Sankesh Chodankar, 20, from Calangute. The arrest has solved two other bike theft cases and recovery process till late Friday night was still on. More than a dozen motorcycle and scooter theft cases have been reported across different police stations. Earlier this week a police bike was stolen from the city
Fire breaks out near Assembly
PORVORIM: Fire broke out in the bushes near the Assembly Complex at Porvorim on Friday at about 2 pm. With no fire-fighting measures in place at the Assembly Complex, the fire spread throughout the area. There was dense smoke. According to Panjim fire officials, they received a call at about 2.41 pm stating that fire broke out in the bushes near Assembly Complex at Porvorim. The fire officials rushed to the spot with fire tender. Since the area was inaccessible, the fire fighters had a tough time to control the fire. Two more fire tenders from Panjim and one from Pilerne were summoned and it took nearly two hours to extinguish the fire. There were no casualties, they said.
