PANJIM: Putting an end to speculation of a possible comeback of Satish Dhond to the State BJP, the party on Tuesday appointed senior RSS leader Vinay Puranik as general secretary (organisation), the post that was vacant since 2015.
In a statement, the party said that national president Amit Shah appointed Puranik as general secretary with immediate effect.
Puranik, was kshetra pracharak of RSS from the western region comprising Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa. “In the recently held pratinidhi sabha in Nagpur it was decided to depute Puranik to BJP,” State general secretary Sadanand Tanawade said.
Dhond, who was holding the post of general secretary (organisation) was shunted out of Goa in July 2015. He was transferred and given charge of the Konkan belt.
However, Dhond’s recent visit to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s home had led to speculation of a return.
