Stay on demolition of Pednekar’s house

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has ordered status quo on the National Green Tribunal’s October 5 ruling and asked Subhash Pednekar to prove his house was constructed before 1991 when the first Coastal Regulation Zone notification was issued.
Issuing notice to the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, the Bench of Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman and Surya Kant directed Pednekar to produce house tax receipts or other relevant documents showing that his house was constructed pre-1991. It was an ex-parte order as none appeared from the Goa government or the coastal authority.
