MARGAO: Accusing the BJP of using the petroleum companies for its benefit at the recent Karnataka elections, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Thursday slammed the saffron party for failing in its duty towards rashtra.
“Exactly a month ago, I had criticised the State government for the steep hike in fuel prices after the BJP’s 6 years of governance. Following the Karnataka State assembly elections, the international crude prices started increasing and the petroleum companies in order to benefit the BJP in the polls, deliberately kept the petroleum prices low till the polls concluded on May 12,” he alleged.
“To cover up its losses estimated to the tune of Rs 19 per litre, the oil companies have hiked oil prices substantially as a result, the petrol prices in Delhi and Goa are the highest ever at Rs 80 and Rs 70 respectively,” he charged.
