VASCO: Though the Lotus withered off in other parts of Goa, but it bloomed all over in Mormugao taluka creating history of sorts on Saturday. Also, it is only because of these four crucial seats the saffron party actually managed to reach a double digit and saved itself from embarrassment.
It is also important to note that, for the first time in the history, all four seats have been won by BJP and most importantly all the four sitting MLA’s have shown their strength by getting re-elected, which never happened in past.
Similarly, in Mormugao BJP candidate Milind Naik hit a hat-trick by getting re-elected for the third time in row. And by getting re-elected for the second consecutive term, BJP candidate from Vasco Carlos Almeida became the first MLA to win Vasco assembly seat in a row. It was also for the first time that even after changing political hat, BJP candidate Mauvin Godinho managed to win the seat for BJP and most interesting factor that actually surprised all was BJP’s Cortalim candidate Alina Saldanha won the seat which was considered as unsafe seat by the senior state BJP leaders.
As these all four BJP leaders from Mormugao Taluka have created histories in many aspects, the joy of post victory celebrations was also very high at every nook and corner of Mormugao taluka. Soon after the results were announced, the elected leaders along with their supporters marched to their home constituencies to take part in the grand victory rallies.
The first victory rally was held by Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho’s supporters who along with Godinho took out a huge rally, thanking constituents for their support. Similarly, Mormugao MLA Milind Naik along with his supporters held a grand rally in Mormugao constituency which was participated by large number of supporters. A similar rally with DJ music was held in Vasco as well as in Cortalim constituency and it was like celebrations have just started.
