MARGAO: Asserting that he does not care about the Congress demands into the alleged assault incident involving party MLAs Kiran Kandolkar and Subhash Faldessai, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that he has already asked for the CCTV footage to find out the truth in the allegations.
He, however, firmly asserted that the government has no role to play in the matter since both the MLAs have denied any assault incident between them. “Tomorrow if a neighbour of a Congress leader comes to me and accuses him of ill-treating his wife, can the government take suo moto cognisance without any complaint from the wife, either to the police or the media? At least, there ought to be some complaint to set the law into motion”, Parrikar said.
“Here is a case where both MLAs say that nothing has happened. Where is your role and my role in the matter? Suppose a Cong leader and his wife fight and don’t want to lodge any complaint, how does the government come the picture? he questioned.
