MARGAO: Denying PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar’s accusation that he was selective in sanctioning projects to constituencies, ex-PWD minister Churchill Alemao has challenged the former to prove his allegations.
Churchill has also warned of taking to the streets if the roads in Benaulim and surrounding villages are not repaired within three months time.
Quoting a news item published in Herald, Churchill said that Sudin accused him of blocking the chief minister Digambar Kamat from carrying out development of constituencies represented by the opposition, as if Kamat was a toddler and not the chief minister.
“The issue that I strongly object to is Mopa; I will be against Mopa and pro-Dabolim till the end of life. People will realize what happens to economy after Mopa becomes a reality. The day Mopa happens, the words of Churchill will be remembered by future generations,” Churchill predicted.
Churchill said that he always pushed for grants for English medium schools. “My effort for English took me, Digambar and Alex Sequira to Sonia Gandhi and Kapil Sibal and demanded grants (for English medium schools) as it was being stopped several times,” Churchill revealed.
Giving an account of how he had passed projects for entire Goa, he said “I took up Tillari project and was blamed of getting Maharashtra people into Goa and the benefits are seen now. 52 MLD water plant is there in North and I later sanctioned 50 reservoirs, but they have not been able to supply water to the north till date.”
Churchill has claimed that he developed all constituencies of Goa including Ponda, Priol, Madkai, Calangute and others and did not do selective development.
