PANJIM: Sporting Club of Davorlim beat St. Sebasteao Youth Club of Murida-Fatorda via the tie-breaker 4-2 in the finals of first late Francisco Simon Cabral soccer tournament final organised by Rossman Cruz Nagoa Sports
Club and sponsored by Cabral Group of Companies at Nagoa ground, Verna.
The teams played a goalless draw at full time.
In the tie-breaker Sporting Club of Davorlim scored through Melvin Figueredo, Jose Colaco, Venson Figueredo and Mecklan Colaco. St. Sebasteao netted through Francis Borges and Ivo Fernandes. Vincent Barbosa and
Wilson Dias’ spot kicks were saved by goalkeeper Sachin Astekar.
Following prizes were awarded: Man-of-the-match Cliff Baretto of Fatorda. Best keeper of final Sachin Astekar of Davorlim. Best defender of final Andrew Colaco of Davorlim. Best forward of final Venson Figueredo of Davorlim. Best midfielder Danny Dias of St. Sebasteao Fatorda.
Sporting Club Davorlim won Rs. 50,000 and the trophy while St. Sebasteao Fatorda bagged the runners-up prize of Rs. 30,000 and the cup.
Earlier, the president and founder of the club Cruz Gonsalves welcomed. Maria Cabral, club committee member and ex-sarpanch of Nagoa proposed the vote of thanks.
Fr Livio D’Mello, parish priest of Nagoa church was the chief guest. Fr. Victor Viegas, chaplain of Telaulim and former parish priest of Nagoa church was the guest of honour.
