PANJIM: A superb performance by Jarvis Faleiro (36 not out) enabled Sportsweek to win the U-14 match against Daniel cricket Academy U-14 by 7 wickets while a fine show by Tanuj Khandekar (67) and leg spinning Subhav Borker (4-15) enabled MCA U-16 to defeat Daniel Cricket Academy U-16 by 49 runs.
In the U-14 match, Daniel Cricket Academy won the toss and elected to bat and scored 103/4 in 20 overs. Sanket was the top scorer with 28 not out and was supported by Srujan 14 and Sai 17. Jeevan Chittam, Shantanu Nevagi and Rudresh Sharma took 1 wicket each.
Chasing 104 to win, Jarvis Faleiro (36*), Shrey Singh (14*) and Vaishakh Nair (15) made sure that Sportsweek won the match by 7 wickets in the 14th over. Left arm spinner Tanish (2-28) was the pick of the bowlers.
In the U-16 match, MCA elected to bat first and posted 177/8 in 30 overs. Tanuj Khandekar (67), Omprakash Lenka (35), Ayush Maccha (26) and Deven Chittam (10*) batted well for MCA. Pranay (3-35), Krishna (3-29) bowled well for Daniel.
Opening Batsmen Akhil (68) played a swashbucking innings at one time threatened to take the game away from MCA but dimunitive leg spinner Subhav Borker (4-15) had him stumped by Rajat Morajkar and ran through the innings bowling out Daniels for 128 in 27 overs. Tusar Patel (2-21), Omprakash Lenka (1-24) and Saiesh Satardekar (1-9) bowled well.
