PANJIM: Power Minister Nilesh Cabral on Wednesday said that the tenders floated for 220 KV power stations at Verna, Tuem and Saligao will be scrapped and will be refloated with modern specifications.
The Minister said that he is looking at new and modern technology through which for the first time in Goa, sub-stations would be unmanned.
He said the file with new modern specification and changes have been moved to the chief minister for approval.
“I had a word with the chief minister and also moved a note,” he said.
Cabral said that the three tenders were of old specifications and would add no value to the infrastructure.
“The previous tenders have become obsolete with changes in technology,” he said adding that with additional 20 per cent more expenditure the infrastructure would get life for the power stations for next 50 years.
The minister said after spending additional Rs 10 to 15 crore over and above the current estimate of Rs 124 to Rs 200 crore, the department is looking at deploying futuristic, higher capacity high-temperature low-sag (HTLS) conductors and increased life power stations.
