PANJIM: The murder of Monika Ghurde was reported to Saligao
Police on Thursday late night by the neighbours. The incident came to light
when the brother of deceased contacted the neighbours when she was not
responding to phone calls since Thursday morning. A neighbour after noticing
the murder alerted local police.
The locals in the apartment have informed that the deceased
Monika was very familiar with the neighbours and that she was residing in the
complex since July this year. The locals have also said that she used to reside
in Defence Colony in Porvorim and it had been hardly three months since she shifted
to Sangolda in Sapna Raj Valley.

The investigation team of Saligao Police, DYSP Mahesh
Gaonkar, North Goa SP Umesh Gaonkar, DIG Vimal Anand Gupta are still at the
murder site in Sangolda in Ghurde’s flat along with the forensic team of Goa
Police. Police are suspecting rape and robbery as the things in the flat where the
murder has taken place, are not intact.
