MARGAO: After a lot of delays, the Ring Road from Old Market to Comba (Damodar College) has finally been completed and was opened for public use.
The Ring Road project of Margao which was planned to be the bypass route for the town was to ease the traffic congestion. However, it has been waiting for completion for the last several decades. Several hurdles of litigations, land acquisitions, encroachments had stopped the work to a grinding halt.
Margao even after being in ruling for a majority of the years and even after having a chief minister as their MLA did not get this Ring Road completed. The stretch of the Ring Road from Old Market Junction had 15 houses in the middle of the road. The congestion of vehicles in Margao in recent times had got very aggravated that the HC took sou moto cognisance in the matter.
Dy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai took up this issue and got the families living in the area rehabilitated paving way for connectivity of the Ring Road.
