PANJIM: The government-constituted committee for formulating the scheme for FPS dealers on Friday unanimously passed a resolution demanding that the Point of Sale (PoS) be linked to electronic weighing machines, to be supplied by the government at no cost to fair price shops.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Secretary (Civil Supplies) Sanjit Rodrigues. During the meeting, All Goa Consumer Cooperative Society and Goa Fair Price Shop Owners Association general secretary Gandhi Henriques said that the FPS owners were unaware of the Common Service Centre (CSC) even as the CSC Goa assistant general manager Jadhav claimed that so far 120 FPS have been registered and of these, 60 have been affiliated to the CSC.

Rodrigues then asked the CSC assistant general manager to submit a report about the CSC, including the income and transactions by the Fair Price Shops, within a fortnight.
Acting Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Jayant Tari received flak as he could not provide the required information and as such some of the points listed in the agenda could not be discussed.
Rodrigues also pulled up the Director of Civil Supplies for not responding to the letter written by the Association general secretary about the delay in reimbursing outstanding Rs one crore to all fair price shops. He has now asked the Director to provide all the information within the next 15 days.
After the meeting, Henriques expressed his disappointment and alleged that the Director of Civil Supplies was not prepared for the meeting. Due to this, five points listed in the agenda mainly the survey of ration cards and data on how many cards were reduced and increased and to project number of ration cards per FPS for its viability by DCS and presentation of two years data of tonnage/factual sale per FPS so as to determine the earning per FPS by DCS, listed in the agenda could not be taken up.
