PONDA: Content with government’s action which helped Muslim community in the State to celebrate Eid-ul-Zuha, Ittehadul Jamiatul Muslimeen (IJM) Goa has urged the State government to make necessary arrangement well in advance for next year’s celebration.
It may be recalled that members of various NGOs were on protest demanding a law to ban cattle slaughter, forcing State government to invoke Section 144 within a radius of 1 km of Goa Meat Complex, where the government had made necessary arrangement for the Muslim community to perform ritual to slaughter bulls on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha celebrated on October 16.
Addressing media persons at Ponda on Sunday, IJM members said according to the tradition, camels, bulls and goats are slaughtered as a sacrifice and government must initiate steps to avoid last minute hiccups. They also urged the government to try and find out those who are trying to disturb peace and harmony in the peaceful State of Goa.
