PANJIM: Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte on Friday clarified that his comment on US President Donald Trump’s crackdown on H-1B visa was taken out of context.
Khaunte said he was speaking about preparing a friendly environment for talented professionals who would now return. “I did not thank Trump for his move. I had said that Goa’s talented professionals who had migrated to America will now return and we need to create an environment in the industry to absorb them,” he clarified.
Speaking to a group of polytechnic students in Panjim, Khaunte said the State government will soon have a proper policy on start-ups for those returning from US.
“We need to find industry and security for them. And that is a challenge which we have taken up. I am happy and quite proud to say that in the next ten days, a proper policy on start-ups will be implemented,” Khaunte had said.
The minister said that bureaucratic red tape was leading to delay in sanctioning of start-ups in Goa.
