It also welcomed the assurance given by the Minister for Information and Publicity Milind Naik in the Assembly to conduct scrutiny and investigate the huge expenditure incurred by ESG on IFFI 2013, a press note issued by film makers & national award winner director Laxmikant Shetgaonkar said Saturday.
FFFG in its meeting reviewed various aspects of the status of film industry in Goa and raised concerns over the lethargy on government’s part in investigating various scams and irregularities in ESG. The members also urged the government to speedily investigate on the various complaints filed against the irregularities in ESG vide complaints dated 20/12/2012 filed by FFFG and complaint dated 05/08/2013 filed by former member of ESG Augie D’Mello.
FFFG also said that it is against organizing Cultural Programmes during the film festival and demanded that ESG should rather focus on film centric activities.
He said that the previous government had stopped all cultural programmes 2009 onwards.
These programmes can be organized at some other time, Shetgaokar said, adding that ESG has failed to implement the Film Finance Scheme which is dormant for last three years. He also said that ESG should now focus on providing infrastructural support to the local film fraternity and should develop schemes which can provide grants to procure equipment etc.
FFFG also demanded the immediate reinstatement of two of its members Augie D’Mello and Teotanio D’Costa on ESG committee and objected to the appointment of professional builders and beneficiaries on ESG and that members on ESG should be barred from taking direct or indirect benefits of ESG, according to a press note.
