QUEPEM: Six-time chairperson of Quepem Municipal Council Manuel Colaco passed away on Friday morning, at the age of 65.
For the last two days, he was undergoing treatment for breathing problem at Royal Hospital, Margao.

Manuel was well respected politician of Quepem for a decade. His simplicity and intelligence made him an outstanding politician. He was a fighter and his never die attitude, made him a tough character.
From 1985, when first Quepem Municipal Council was formed he was the councillor till the recently held civic elections 2021, where he lost. At the same time, he was the Quepem Block Committee president from half year or so. He was always a competitive personality, who always wanted to take the responsibility even when he was going through ill health.
Manuel was born on August 14, 1956 and his political journey started from 1985 till 2021 and in between he was six-time elected as the councillor and got the honour to be six-time chairperson of Quepem Municipality.
