Marcel P’yat unlocks toilet meant for shopkeepers

After a long wait of eight months, the Tivre-Orgao-Marcel Village Panchayat finally opened the common toilet meant for shopkeepers.

The development comes after O Heraldo in its edition dated October 15, 2022 had reported about the illegal closing of the above mentioned toilet.

The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) had pulled up the panchayat secretary for his negligence in enforcing the order and for violating the human rights of the complainant and his employees by not removing the lock. The commission had asked the secretary to remove the lock and keep the common toilet open.

Following GHRC’s recommendation, an inspection was conducted wherein the panchayat secretary and staff finally opened the lock. However, the sarpanch and panchas were absent at the inspection. I thank O Heraldo for highlighting the issue.
