PANJIM: The worrying trend of the COVID-19 scenario in Goa might prompt the government to make a Covid-19 negative certificate compulsory for all visitors.

The Office of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the government is monitoring inter-state vehicle movement for the next 24 hours after which it will arrive at a decision.
Late on Wednesday night, as Goa imposed night curfew, Sawant visited the Keri check post to review the situation as far as entry of outside vehicles is concerned.
“Next 24 hours monitoring as to how many vehicles are entering Goa by road. Further decision as to whether COVID negative certificate to be taken for persons entering the State will be decided accordingly,” reads a short media statement issued by the CMO.
Several States, including adjoining Maharashtra, have made COVID-19 negative certificate mandatory for all its visitors beside listing Goa as sensitive origin State owing to rise in cases.
With Maharashtra imposing a 15-day lockdown, shutting down all non-essential establishments and activities, many film and TV shoots have shifted to Goa. The crew from various shooting teams are scattered across different parts of the State while a few celebrities having their second home in Goa are also ‘vacationing’ here.
The State, owing to mandatory testing and negative certificate in other States, has been recording fewer tourist arrivals. However, movement of tourists has not completely stopped.
