LOUTULIM: The wild life rescue squad attached to South Goa District Forest Office, Margao on Thursday night successfully trapped an adult female leopard at Devote – Loutulim.
The squad had laid the trap on the evening of July 15, as they received a complaint from Precioso Soares, resident of Devoti-Loutulim that his pigs were taken away by a wild animal.
Members of the wild life rescue squad first visited the site on Wednesday and confirmed the pug marks in the wet soil and laid the trap. The wild cat fell for the trap and was caged.
“In October 2014 and February 2015 my pigs had gone missing. Accordingly the forest department was informed and traps were laid at two different places. On Friday the leopard was trapped in the cage at last bringing much relief to the residents of this area.”
