PANJIM: The District and Sessions Court on Monday sentenced two convicts to life imprisonment for murder. Osban Fernandes and Ramesh Bhagve, accused of double murder in 2013, are also charged for sexually abusing their underage daughter.
While the High Court of Bombay at Goa had recently upheld their life sentence for the offense of killing Sujata and attempting to murder the two survivors, the trial court has sentenced them for murdering Sujata’s husband Shivaji.

The Children’s Court had last year convicted Fernandes of Merces and Bagve from Sindhudurg and awarded them life sentences finding them guilty on four counts. The case dates back to May 2013, wherein the husband-wife was murdered by the two men at different locations.
The incident unfolded after the minor survivor spilled the beans to a passerby and subsequently to the police.
The victims, deceased husband (40), wife (35); and two minor survivors, son (8) and daughter (5) were all members of a Kolhapur native family.
