MAPUSA: A day after suspected suicide by four of family in a residential flat ‘God’s Gift’ at Khorlim, Mapusa, the post-mortem report on Wednesday revealed that Kavita Dhumale, the wife of Shahu Dhumale and their nine-year-old son Saras were hanged to death. However, the autopsy revealed that their two-and-half-year-old son Sairaj was killed by Shahu by strangulation.
After the post-mortem, police handed over the bodies of all four persons to their relatives.

Meanwhile, a thorough investigation is underway with regards to the four-page suicide note containing detailed information wherein Shahu narrated about his decision to commit suicide. Police are investigating whether Shahu took the drastic step under someone’s pressure.
It may be recalled that four members of a family from Mapusa committed suicide in their flat on Tuesday morning. According to the Mapusa Police, they received a call at around 10.15 am and immediately rushed to the spot and found 41-year-old Shahu Dhumale hanging to the ceiling fan.
The police also found the bodies of his wife 34-year-old Kavita and their two minor children on the bed.
The family from Nesari Gadinglaz in Kolhapur, Maharashtra was residing in Goa for the past six years, sources informed.
Sources revealed that Shahu had come to Goa with his wife and was
residing in rented room in Khorlim. He later bought an old flat for which he had taken loan from a bank and private company. As he was unable to repay the loan, Shahu eventually sold the flat.
Sources claimed that Shahu was to handover the flat keys to the new owner on Tuesday. However, before he could hand over the keys, he committed suicide.
Shahu had messaged his niece to come and take the two minor children since they were about to vacate the flat. Accordingly the niece sent her father to the flat.
The incident was reported by Shahu’s brother-in-law, who initially went to the flat, knocked on the door but nobody responded. So the brother-in-law inquired with neighbours, who informed him that the flat key is usually kept outside near the door. He opened the door and found Shahu hanging to ceiling fan and informed the police.
