PONDA: MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar and Congress President and its North Goa Candidate for Lok Sabha Girish Chodankar, along with supporters of both parties, came together on one dais during a campaign meeting at Priol on Friday.
MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar appealed MGP voters not only in Priol but all over North Goa to vote for Congress candidate Chodankar by a large majority.
It was for the first time that both parties which were always in rival camps at the time of election were seen together on one stage.
MGP supported Congress following decision by the party on Thursday and thereafter immediately MGP and Congress held their official meeting to declare support to Congress in Priol on Friday.
“We contributed in growth of BJP but it not only backstabbed us but also tried to finish the MG Party. The BJP should bear in mind that this is the party of people of Goa and no one can finish it from politics,” said Deepak.
“Last time we supported BJP in the LS Poll and so MGP voters at Priol gave large vote share of 18,000 votes to Shripad Naik contributing to his victory. But this time we appeal the MGP voters in Priol to vote for victory of Congress and Girish Chodankar,” Deepak added.
The MGP president said they worked with BJP for development but the saffron party always halted development in Priol.
“People of Goa have welcomed the decision of the MG Party which they have taken at the right time. It was the need of hour,” said Congress President and LS candidate Girish Chodankar.
“BJP is buying MLAs for the greed of power. It failed to conduct development and also jobs, in fact, they ruined the industries and created unemployment problem,” Girish added.
“Congress is sure to win both Lok Sabha seats with the support of MGP that has large vote share in Goa,” the GPCC president added.
