VASCO: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Friday provided medical assistance to an injured crew member of MV Emma Victory oil/chemical tanker from Norway.
In a press note, the ICG stated their Dornier aircraft which was on maritime patrol was alerted that one Divinagarcia, a Filipino national, had accidently fallen in the engine room and had fallen unconscious with a head injury.
On receiving an SOS call from the tanker, which was proceeding from Madagascar to Mumbai, the ICG Vessel Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, captained by Commandant K J Singh, rushed to the tanker and provided medical assistance to the injured crew member.
The medical team, headed by Commandant A Tyagi, later airlifted the injured crew member to Mumbai and shifted him to the Jaslok hospital, where he is undergoing further treatment.
