PORVORIM: Bicholim independent MLA Chandrakant Shetye raised the issue of police brutality wherein a youth was mercilessly beaten up by cops for breaking the redlight signal at Porvorim recently.
Making a mention during Zero Hour in the State Legislative Assembly, Shetye said the youth was brutally beaten by the police including a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) at a traffic junction at Porvorim close to midnight a few days ago.
When contacted, Director General of Police (DGP) Jaspal Singh told Herald that the assault complaint filed a youth against DySP (ANC) Nerlon Albuquerque is under enquiry by the SP (Headquarters).
The victim Siddhant Raul in his complaint to the DGP had alleged that he was brutally assaulted by DySP Nerlon Albuquerque and his driver at Porvorim on July 12, for jumping the signal.
