MERCES: It’s been over five months since the work on the culvert at Indira-Nagar, Chimbel, began but there are no signs of early completion of the construction work as the water pipeline, which was shifted above the ground due to contamination, is yet to be relocated, thereby causing undue delay.
When contacted on two occasions, PWD water supply JE Parab had assured that he would ask the contractor to complete the shifting of the pipeline at the earliest so that soling work on the road leading to the culvert could commence.
At the recent gram sabha too, the Chimbel Panchayat had assured it would direct the PWD authorities to complete the work within one month.
However even after one month since the gram sabha was held, the work continues to be neglected and the locals have expressed their dismay over the neglect by the authorities towards Chimbel village.
Speaking to Herald, a villager, Mathew Quadros, condemned the PWD authorities as well as the Chimbel panchayat for taking the
locals for a ride. “Everyday when we travel by this side, we have to experience
a bumpy ride,” Quadros informed and demanded that the work on the culvert should be completed at
the earliest so that the sufferings of the people are
alleviated.
