RAIA: Striker Clencio Pinto struck a brilliant hat-trick as Don Bosco Oratory, Fatorda, demolished Varca Sports Club 6-1 to enter into the semi-finals of 13th Cana-Benaulim Panchayat Cup football tournament organised by UC Benaulim at St John de Baptista ground, Benaulim, on Monday.
Don Bosco Oratory were leading 2-1 at the breather but the Fatorda outfit put on a show with Clencio netting thrice, while Hanslum Furtado, Myron Fernandes and Sarineo Fernandes also scored to complete the rout in the second session.

Don Bosco Oratory did not waste time and got the opening goal in the 5th minute itself when young winger Myron Fernandes moving on the left struck a left footer past the onrushing Varca SC goalkeeper Francisco Costa.
Don Bosco Oratory doubled the lead when Clencio took a pass from Richie Vaz and shot into the nylon in the 18th minute.
Varca SC got themselves back into the match when Leander Mendonca surprised the Don Bosco Oratory goalkeeper Karol Soares with an angular drive to reduce the margin.
After resumption of play, Varca SC defence were shaken by the continuous pressure from the rival striker. Hanslum Furtado then provided a fine cross in the 39th minute to Clencio to increase the lead of Don Bosco Oratory and three minutes later striker Hanslum intercepted a back pass of Varca SC defender Patraz Kullu to get his name on the score sheet.
Varca SC were a completely demoralised team and conceded two more goals through the boots of Clencio and Sarineo Fernandes to end the match on a tennis score. Striker Clencio Pinto was handed the man-of-the-match award by Benaulim Panchayat member Manoj Kesarkar.
