Kamat, through Advocate Surendra Desai, had moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa seeking copies of the chargesheet, which had been submitted to the special court in two volumes.
The chargesheet names seven persons as accused, including former LB official James McClung and former PWD minister Churchill Alemao.
The CB had denied a copy to the sitting MLA claiming that a copy of a chargesheet is usually given to the accused and since Kamat is a suspect, he is not entitled to it. When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday, Desai argued that CB named Kamat as suspect and not accused so as to deny him a copy of the chargesheet.
Public Prosecutor S R Rivonkar contested the defense’s claim saying they had taken permission of the court to investigate Kamat and as such, his name as accused will figure in the supplementary charge sheet.
The chargesheet photocopies were subsequently handed over to Desai, and with this, CB’s plea challenging Kamat’s anticipatory bail will be heard on Monday.
