NAVELIM: Pilerne Sports Club got the better of Cortalim Villagers 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of Sanchu Memorial tournament, at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday. In the first half, Cortalim villagers were leading 1-0.
Cortalim Villagers scored through Royal Carvalho’s grounder of a connect by Selvy Pereira in the 14th minute.
At the other end, Royston floated the ball to Sunny but his move was tackled dealt by a rival defender in the 16th minute.
Post resumption, Sunny equalized for Pilerne SC in the 37th minute but Royal Carvalho made it 2-1 in favour of Cortalim villagers.
Thereafter Babu Pednekar levelled for Pilerne SC in the 56th minute.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Pilerne SC scored through Royston, Sunny and Ryan while Cortalim Villagers netted through Teotanio Pereira and Selvy Pereira.
