MAPUSA: Judicial Magistrate First Class Shantashri Sinai Kudchadkar has directed Anjuna police to register an FIR and investigate into the allegation of misappropriation of fund and assets by the managing committee of Sidheshwar Devasthan Anjuna.
Harichandra Govekar, a resident of Chapora, had alleged that the Sidheshwar Devasthan management committee misappropriated funds and assets received through donation and it refused to provide audit statement for 2000 to 2012 & 2014.
He also alleged that former members of the managing committee constructed huge bungalows on comunidade land illegally using Devasthan funds.
On learning of these wrong doings by the committee, Govekar filed a complaint at the Anjuna police station, but the police refused to register the case.
Thereafter, Govekar filed an application before the JMFC for a direction to the Anjuna police to register an FIR and investigate the case.
After examining application and the allegations against the committee, the JMFC issued direction to the Anjuna police to register an FIR and investigate into the offences complained of.
