NAVELIM: Nuvem SC defeated Varca SC 2-1 to enter into the quarter-final of the late Jose Bento Furtado Memorial football tournament, at Rosary ground, Navelim on Sunday.
Nuvem team had the best chance of the first half when Merriston Coutinho’s header missed the Varca nets in the 29th minute.
There was no score at the break.
Nuvem drew the first blood through Merriston Coutinho in the 46th minute, while Standly Fernandes doubled the lead for Nuvem in the 49th minute with a well placed drive.
Tennyson Rocha pulled a goal back for Varca in the 51st minute.
Nuvem SC will meet ICSC Paroda in the quarter-final on October 30.
