MARGAO: In the presence of large numbers of workers along with I.N.D.I.A Bloc partners, Captain Viriato Fernandes, of the Congress filed his nomination papers for the South Goa Lok Sabha election, wherein he also declared public about the criminal case filed against him during his agitation against double tracking before filing the nomination.
Captain Viriato and the I.N.D.I.A alliance partners expressed confidence that both the candidates will win the elections with huge margin.
Congress President Amit Patkar, Goa Forward President and MLA Vijai Sardessai, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, MLA Capt Venzy Viegas, MLA Altone D’Costa, Cruz Silva besides several other leaders were also present at the time of filing the nomination of Captain Viriato.
Before filing the nomination and addressing the workers at the Congress party’s South Goa office, Capt Viriato along with other leaders prayed at Shri Ram Mandir on the auspicious occasion of Shri Ram Navami. He also took blessings at Shri Damodar Ling and Saint Francis Xavier Chapel, near Fatorda Stadium.
Presence of several social activists from across the South district was noticed as they travelled to Margao to support Capt Viriato Fernandes on Wednesday.
Capt Viriato said that after campaigning in South Goa, he has received a huge response from the people.
“The waves are in favour of the I.N.D.I.A Bloc and against the BJP government. The fight for the cause of the people will continue and will take it to the parliament,” he said.
Addressing the gathering, Bloc partners Capt Venzy Viegas, Vijai Sardesai, besides Congress leaders Yuri Alemao, Amit Patkar, etc, appealed to the people to defeat the BJP candidate.
Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao said that people of Goa will give a perfect reply to the BJP government on the day of voting.
“Yes, we have mentioned the case against the candidate for the agitation that happened to oppose the railway double tracking. We have assets in the form of Captain Viriato Fernandes. Captain Viriato will surely raise all the issues of Goa, including Mhadei, unemployment, etc, in the parliament,” said LoP.
AAP MLA Venzy Viegas also expressed confidence that Captain Viriato will win with a huge margin.
While, MLA Vijai Sardesai reacted to the Minister Sudin Dhavlikar statement on railway double tracking, saying that once the same political leader had objected to the railway double tracking by stating that it is the biggest destruction on the Goans, however, now he has changed his statement.
“Sudin will be dropped from the cabinet very soon. It is my challenge to the Chief Minister to declare if Sudin will remain as a minister in Goa’s cabinet,” he said.
