Centre takes up cudgels for transporters
PANJIM: In a hard-hitting letter to the state Principal Secretary Public Works Department (PWD) and Transport, R K Verma, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (T section) has asked the government to take "immediate necessary measures to avoid harassment to truckers/transporters and take steps for withdrawal of undue levy of taxes/fees, including the newly started entry tax;" stepping the pitch even further for the authorities.
