PANJIM: Congress on Thursday opposed the continuous increase of fuel and LPG prices while also demanding to roll back the prices in the interest of common man.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been speaking of ‘ache din’ which has now been exposed as pure hollow statements only to cheat the electorate in the country. Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar too in the past had made tall statements and claims and promised to freeze the price of petrol to Rs 60 per litre. But it may be seen now that the prices of fuel/LPG have spiralled out of control and beyond the reach of common man. Thus his statements are also exposed as hollow to only cheat the people of Goa,” the party office-bearers Varad Mardolkar, Pratima Coutinho, Zameer Ahmad and Vaishali Shetgaonkar said.
The leaders of various units of the party also termed the scenario as ‘bure din’ claiming that price of petrol and diesel in Goa is overtaking each other with record high price of Rs 73.21 and 72.73 respectively as on September 5. The party further said that price of LPG gas has been increased by nearly Rs 400 since BJP took over at the Centre. Congress demanded a rollback of the prices failing which they will agitate more vigorously.
