PANJIM: It was a gripping day as the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open 2017 tournament is growing more intense with the upcoming finals.
The men’s doubles category witnessed the dynamic duo Pritish Kumar and Raju Kundaikar who were untroubled as they effortlessly defeated Benjamin Craven and Aman Bundela 4-0, 4-0 in their second battle.
The unstoppable pair also won against Manu Chabra and Nagesh Naik in a nail-bitingly close fight 4-1, 3-4, 4-1.
In the veterans double, Suresh Kadam and Sandeep Verlekar pushed through to secure their spot 4-1, 4-2 against Manoj Pandey and Pema Sherpa, bringing the morning session to an end.
The evening session saw the commencement of the semi-finals U-16 boys, veterans doubles, ladies singles and mixed doubles categories played out.
In the U-16 boys, budding players Yash Chauhan and Felix Craven took to the courts to play amidst cheers from their fellow players and family. Yash overpowered Felix 4-2, 4-1 to march into the final.
In the ladies singles, Simran Khan battled it out against Nitsa Murthy for the ultimate spot and Simran Khan edged over Nitsa Murthy 4-1, 4-2 in the running for winning the title.
