TELAULIM: One of the Goa’s oldest processions of Mother Mary at Telaulim will be held on Monday followed by the first Novena Mass. And the feast of Our Lady of Rosary will be celebrated on November 20 at Our Lady of Rosary Church, Navelim,
Antonio Pires de Menezes, a senior citizen from Telaulim, said that he cannot recollect much but has got some knowledge about the procession of Our Lady of Fatima chapel from Telaulim, Navelim chapel to Our lady of Rosary Church at Navelim.
“The taking out of procession started 100 years ago. The first procession was started with Our Lady of Carmel, which was brought all the way from Portugal. Then as years passed, an elder Jose Minguel Pires de Menezes decided that it should be Our Lady of Fatima instead of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, to be taken in the procession from the year 1949; from then onwards, the statue of Our Lady of Fatima was taken on procession,” he said.
Peter V Coutinho, a devotee, said that the procession of devotees that time used to be small lines with candles and now the devotees are in thousands.
