MARGAO: Decks have been cleared for the grand shigmo float parade in the Commercial capital on March 6 on Friday with the government authorities granting all permissions for the Madgao Shigmotsav Samiti led by the local MLAs Digambar Kamat and Vijai Sardesai.
In another development, the Madgao Shigmotsav samiti headed by BJP leader Damu Naik announced attractive cash prizes for the floats and Romtamel participating in the government sponsored parade scheduled in the city on March 8.
Addressing the media, the Madgao Shigmotsav Samiti headed by the two MLAs said all arrangements are in place to hold the grade float parade tomorrow at the old market area. “For the first time ever, the float parade will be held on the Old market circle-Ravindra bhavan junction road, which will not disrupt the normal traffic in the city”, informed MMC Councillor Damu Shirodkar in the presence of Shigmotsav Samiti president Vasant Shriodkar, Damodar Adpaikar and others.
Meanwhile, the Damu Naik led Madgao Shigmotsav Samiti has said that the winner of the Romtamel competition will be awarded a cash prize of Rs one lakh (Rs 35,000 sponsored by the government and Rs 65,000 sponsored by the Margao Shimo Utsav samiti”, he added.
