RAIA: Sporting Club of Virabhat scored a 2-0 win over Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag to march ahead in the 1st Caniza Peixoto memorial 9-a-side inter-ward football tournament organised by Agxem Sports Club, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Monday.
Match started on the attacking note with both teams dominating with their strikers. Jolly Boys could have taken the lead through the efforts of Joban Carvalho in the 10th minute but it was well saved by goalkeeper of Sporting Club of Virabhat.

In the 15th minute of the match, Jolly Boys Jurickh Carvalho’s shoot hit the post and went out. On the other hand, Sporting Club of Virabhat also missed an opportunity.
At half time, both teams settled for a draw. In the second half, Sporting Club of Virabhat broke the deadlock through Venson Paes with clear finish in 30th minute. Jolly Boys tried hard to draw level but couldn’t find the much-needed equaliser.
Lourdes Fernandes of Sporting Club of Virabhat made it 2-0 in the 37th minute of the match. Jurick of Jolly Boys was sent off. Joban Carvalho of Jolly Boys of Sinaibhag was awarded the man-of-the-match award by former Agxem Sports Club player Sebastiao Castanha.
