PANJIM: It was a treat for tennis fans as the morning session witnessed an intense battle between Werner Fernandes and Yash Chauhan for the U-16 Boys title, on Saturday.
Werner Fernandes had the upper hand and emerged victorious over Yash Chauhan with a 4-1, 4-0 score. In a nail-bitingly close battle Darttaraj Naik overpowered Nehal Shaikh (4-0, 3-4, 4-3) to take home the title in the U-12 boys category.
Rachith Aiyappa took down Nagesh Naik (4-0, 4-1) in a one-sided victory to reach the finals of the Men’s Singles category. While defending champion Tejas Shevde clashed and beat Neil Tanawala (4-0, 4-0) to progress to the finals in the Men’s Singles category alongside Rachith Aiyappa which will take place today, Sunday. Neil Tanawala and Vibhu Goyal pared well and triumphed against Noah D’Silva and Kevin Rebelo (4-2, 4-1).
