SANGUEM: Aggrieved by lack of drinking water supply in the village since last ten days, Wadem villagers on Tuesday marched on to the office of water supply department Sanguem demanding immediate restoration of drinking water.
The villagers were led by former MLA from Sanguem Subhash Phaldessai, panchayat member Amol Kanekar and others.
Phaldessai informed that though the villagers of Wadem had sacrificed their ancestral land for paving way for the construction of the Selaulim Dam, the villagers now stands neglected towards supply of regular drinking water despite the villagers having their houses touching the Selaulim backwaters.
The whole of South Goa gets water from the Selaulim Dam but the very people who sacrificed their ancestral lands for Selaulim Dam spend sleepless nights in getting drinking water and at times have to rely on water tankers for drinking water supply.
