POINGUINIM: Former director of the State OBC Corporation and ex-Gaondongrem sarpanch Ashok B Velip was brutally assaulted by his elder brother on Friday afternoon.
Ashok’s brother, Laxman Velip, was arrested by Canacona police and was referred to Canacona Community Health Centre (CMC), where doctors attending to him found his behaviour abnormal and referred him to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour at Bambolim.
Ashok Velip was admitted to CMC and the doctors referred him to Hospicio Hospital at Margao for further investigation
The motive behind the assault was not known and Canacona Police is trying to get inputs from villagers of Bharsa-Gaondongrem, where the attack took place.
