CM announces job reservation for sportspersons in govt departments

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during the closing ceremony of the National Games announced that henceforth there would be four per cent job reservation in all government departments for sportspersons who win laurels for the State. 

Earlier, this reservation was available in the fire and police department only. He also talked about setting up a sports university. “Henceforth the State would be known for sports, sun, sand and sea declaring the government’s desire to integrate sports into the identity of the State.”

Sawant emphasised the development of a sports university in Goa, envisioning the State as a hub for not just its scenic beauty but also for its commitment to sports. 

“From now on, Goa will be known for sun, sand, sea and sports,” he declared, expressing the government’s ambition to integrate sports into the identity of the coastal state.

The Chief Minister applauded the 91 medal-winning athletes of Goa at the National Games and set an ambitious target for the next edition, stating, “Goa will aim for 100 plus medals at the 38th National Games.”
