In Ponda taluka, 27 to battle it out for 7 seats

PONDA: Twenty-seven candidates, including 20 independents, are in the fray for seven ZP seats in Ponda taluka.

After scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations, 20 independent candidates will give a tough fight to alliance candidates of MGP (five) and BJP (two) from seven ZP constituencies in Ponda taluka. There is neither Congress nor any other party candidates in the fray against the alliance candidates.
It may be recalled that about 43 nominations were filed till the last day o filing nominations on March 7, out of which five nominations were declared invalid after scrutiny, while 11 candidates withdrew their nominations.
The four candidates in the fray for Usgao ZP constituency include Bharat alias Umesh Dina Naik (MGP), while Dyaneshwar Naik, Laxmikant Naik and Yuvraj Naik are contesting as independents.
In Betki Khandola ZP, five candidates in the fray are Babita Dattaprasad Naik Gaonkar (MGP), Kiran Deepak Fadte Gaonkar, Sradha Fadte, Srinisha Nayak and Vishakha Gaonkar (independents).
From Curti ZP constituency, Mohan Verenkar (MGP), Adarsha Toraskar, Imtiyan Nabbisab Sayyad, Kalidas Khandeparkar, Nilkanth Dadu Naik, Saleem Kadir Mulla and Shamid Kadar Badesab (independents) are in the fray.
In Veling Priol, candidates contesting include Shivdas Gavde (MGP) and Premanand Havlu Gavde (independent).
From Kavlem constituency, three candidates in the fray are Chitra Fadte (MGP), while Shubangi Naik and Sinthiya Naik will contest as independent candidates.
In Borim ZP constituency, Deepak Teeru Naik Borkar (BJP), Manuray Naik and Satish Naik (independents) are in the fray, while in Shiroda constituency, Nagu Saju Kavlekar (BJP), Avdut Poku Naik and Jaydeep Shirodkar (independents) will fight the elections.
